AirModo App Update 1.11; Multi-Factor Authentication

As part of our ongoing commitment to protecting user data and aligning with evolving regulatory standards, AirModo has implemented Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) across both iOS and Android platforms. This enhancement is designed to provide an additional layer of security while maintaining a streamlined user experience.

Strengthening Security with Multi-Factor Authentication in the AirModo App

Why MFA Matters

Cybersecurity threats continue to increase in both frequency and sophistication, particularly within financial and insurance-related digital ecosystems. To address this, the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) has established stringent cybersecurity requirements, including the use of MFA for applications that handle sensitive customer information.

MFA reduces the risk of unauthorized access by requiring users to verify their identity through multiple factors, typically something they know (password) and something they are (biometric authentication such as Face ID or fingerprint). This significantly strengthens account protection, even in cases where login credentials may be compromised.

What to Expect in the Updated App

With the latest AirModo app update, users will encounter a revised login flow that incorporates MFA:

Automatic App Update

The MFA functionality is included in the latest version of the app. This is a force update, so users should not need to manually uninstall or reinstall the application.

Initial Login Prompt

Upon opening the app and attempting to log in, users will be prompted to enable biometric authentication.

  • On iOS devices, this may include Face ID.
  • On Android devices, this typically involves fingerprint authentication.

Biometric Login Going Forward

Once enabled, users can log in quickly and securely using their device’s biometric capabilities, eliminating the need to repeatedly enter credentials.

Session Timeout for Added Security

For additional protection, the app will automatically log users out after approximately 15-20 minutes of inactivity. When returning to the app, users will be required to re-authenticate using MFA.

Balancing Security and User Experience

While MFA introduces an additional step in the login process, the integration of biometric authentication ensures that this step is both fast and frictionless. The result is a more secure platform without compromising usability.

Regulatory Alignment

This update ensures AirModo’s compliance with NYDFS cybersecurity regulations, which mandate robust identity verification controls for applications operating within regulated environments. By implementing MFA, AirModo is not only meeting these requirements but proactively enhancing its security posture.

Final Thoughts

The introduction of MFA reflects AirModo’s continued investment in safeguarding our customer’s information while delivering a seamless digital experience. Users can expect a more secure login process that aligns with industry best practices and regulatory expectations.
